School Readiness Solutions Group
Begins Work

This area will be developed as the School Readiness Solutions Group launches and pursues its path-breaking, statewide effort. Visitors will be able to get information about the group’s meeting schedule and read the briefing materials that have been developed for all members. Following each meeting, summaries will be developed and placed on the Web site.

In addition, this area will include information about the School Readiness Solutions Group’s community outreach and communications activities. These will include a variety of community and constituent group outreach initiatives designed to:

  • Improve stakeholders’ awareness and understanding of the School Readiness Solutions Group’s efforts to build a high-quality, results-driven early learning system for Ohio’s young children.
  • Give targeted constituency groups an opportunity to help us get a better understanding of the problem that needs to be solved and to assist in identifying possible solutions.
  • Get feedback on the group’s evolving policy options – and later, on its draft recommendations.
  • Give the School Readiness Solutions Group’s efforts greater visibility among policymakers who ultimately will be asked to make decisions about early childhood care and education policies.

“Even among three-year olds, the differences in children’s literacy skills are startling, with children from high-income families demonstrating substantially higher skills than low-income children. This is why the work you [the School Readiness Solutions Group] are doing is critically important. It is our best opportunity to close the achievement gaps that we find throughout our education system.”

Susan Tave Zelman
Superintendent of Public Instruction
Ohio Department of Education
